What is Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment relies on a series of clear plastic aligners to realign your teeth just like traditional braces do. Whether your teeth are crowded together or spaced too far apart, customized Invisalign aligners can provide an invisible alternative to uncomfortable and unsightly metal brackets.

How do I get Invisalign aligners?

The first step is a consultation with Dr. Livingston to determine if Invisalign aligners are the best option for you. Dr. Livingston will develop a specialized treatment plan, starting with a quick but extremely precise digital scan of your teeth. This scan helps plan the path your teeth will take over the course of your treatment. You can even see a preview of your new smile.

With a treatment plan in place, your first set of aligners will be custom-made for you. You’ll need to wear them 20-22 hours a day, but you can take them out for meals and to brush and floss as you would normally. Unlike traditional braces, you won’t need to make any emergency trips to the dentist to fix broken brackets or wires.

Every two weeks, you’ll get a new set of aligners as your teeth begin to shift into place, slowly shaping your new smile. When you first start wearing a new set of aligners, they may feel a little snug for a few days. This is completely normal and temporary.

You’ll also have regular check-ups with Dr. Livingston to make sure the process is working properly and to address any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I care for my Invisalign aligners?

Taking care of your aligners is easy: Make sure you remove them before you eat or drink, and brush your teeth before replacing them. Since they’re updated every two weeks, there shouldn’t be much wear-and-tear to your aligners, but talk to Dr. Livingston if you need one replaced.

To keep aligners clean, just rinse them every night and brush them gently with your toothbrush, or use an Invisalign cleaning system.
